Deep Bleaching
UNDERSTANDING WHY TEETH DARKEN AND HOW THEY WHITEN
Before you can appreciate information about Deep Bleaching, you need to understand about teeth whitening in general.
People have different colors of teeth and different lightness and darkness of their teeth; just like people have different colors of skin, hair color and eye color; and different lightness and darkness of skin, hair and eyes. Dark teeth are NOT just due to staining foods and drinks over time.
Over the years the NATURAL colors, deeper within the teeth, get darker. Also stains not only accumulate ON the surface of the teeth, but soak deeply INTO the teeth to further darken teeth. This is why at age 40 you’ll see that your teeth are darker than they were when you were 16, even if you do not consume things like coffee, tea or red wine. But you’ll see they’re even darker if you DO consume those staining foods and drinks.
Teeth whitening works by using peroxide gels that give off oxygen. This oxygen, if it enters the tooth structure properly, breaks long-chain stain molecules into smaller pieces. The significance is that long-chain molecules in teeth are DARK. Little short molecules are white.
Only your natural teeth can be bleached, front crowns, veneers or fillings will have to replaced.
IS BLEACHING SAFE?
Bleaching products have been clinically studied and safely used on millions of patients
without harm to teeth or gums. Bleaching is considered entirely safe.
Patients can now typically have their teeth permanently whitened with Deep Bleaching with no sensitivity at all, or in some cases only minimal sensitivity. Patients with ultra-sensitive teeth, who could have never bleached their teeth at all before, can now whiten their teeth
HOW LONG WILL DEEP BLEACHING LAST?
Unlike other whitening techniques, the results of Deep Bleaching will last FOREVER! It’s PERMANENT! Part of the Deep Bleaching technique is an easy long-term maintenance protocol that you’ll simply perform at home.
As discussed above, darkening of teeth involves the NATURAL coloration of the deeper dentin, as well as the staining resulting from various foods and beverages.
Without periodic maintenance, those light colored molecules that were created during Deep Bleaching will start to join back together to form darker long-chain molecules. Your periodic maintenance (occasionally wearing your Deep Bleaching Trays for a night) will fully prevent this from occurring.
AFTER DEEP BLEACHING, WILL I NEED TO AVOID COFFEE, TEA AND RED WINE?
Absolutely not! You will not have to change your eating or drinking habits at all. When following Dr. Kurthy’s easy Deep Bleaching maintenance program, your teeth will stay the same color for a lifetime without any change in your eating and drinking habits.
IS DEEP BLEACHING MORE EXPENSIVE?
Yes it is. Deep Bleaching is the most expensive bleaching technique of any. Deep Bleaching involves more time and effort on your part and on the part of your dental office team. It is the most effective bleaching technique ever developed. Deep Bleaching is for people who want the whitest teeth possible, who want a permanent result, who want low to no sensitivity during bleaching and who want to continue consuming staining foods and beverages such as coffee, tea and red wine.
